I'm Luukas Väänänen, a 21-year-old bowler from Joensuu. Bowling has been my passion since I was six years old – even then I threw a 173-point series without bumpers. So far, I have thrown a 300-point series 30 times in my career.
The last few years have been the most significant in my career. In November 2025, I won the nen's individual World Vhampionship in Hong Kong, which is the biggest dream of every bowler's career and the highest title one can achieve in international bowling competitions. In the summer of 2025, I also achieved bronze at the men's European Championships in Denmark and bronze at the youth World Cup in Sweden. In the men's Finnish Championship final in May, I won silver on Yle TV2's live broadcast, which was watched by 456,000 viewers at its peak.
My eyes are firmly on the future. In March 2026, I will move to the United States for a few months to compete on the PBA tour, and my goal is to get a strong start to my international professional career. In the summer of 2026, more international competitions are planned, and accordingly, the year 2027 will culminate in the men's European Championships in Tallinn in the summer, and the World Championships in Seoul in South Korea at the end of the year, where I will once again aim for the world championship.

The collaboration always includes visibility from Cosmic, which is visited by over 100,000 customers annually. In addition, the partnership can include Cosmic gift cards for fancy bowling, which the partner can distribute to their own customers, for example. The logos of the partners are visible on my jersey in all competitions, many of which are also televised, and I also always try to highlight the partners in my social media (Instagram and Facebook) publications.

Joensuu is my hometown and the foundation of my journey as an athlete. I was born and raised here and graduated as a Business Administration graduate (merkonomi). The city has played an important role throughout my sporting career.
Joensuu is a vibrant university city with more than 20,000 students, creating a young, international, and active atmosphere. Sport is a strong part of the city’s identity, and the Joensuu Sports Academy made it possible to combine education with high-level, goal-oriented training.
For bowling, Joensuu offers excellent conditions with two high-quality bowling centers and a total of 30 lanes. Beyond bowling, the city provides top-level facilities for a wide range of sports – from ice hockey and basketball to biathlon.
The Pielisjoki River flows through the heart of the city, bringing nature into everyday life. Surrounded by forests and lakes, Joensuu offers an ideal environment for training, recovery, and focus.
I have access to all athlete support services provided by the City of Joensuu, including the Mehtimäki testing facilities. Joensuu is a sports city that believes in athletes and invests in their future.

In co-operation
My partnership with Abloy started in 2021. I've lived my whole life in Joensuu and Abloy's head office is located here too so it's very convenient for me to have them as a partner. Abloy is a pioneer in advanced locking and access control systems around the world. Their products are very familiar to me because all doors in our house are equipped with Abloy Yale products, and it makes it easier to move around because you never have to think about whether you have the keys with you or not.
Cooperation with Wetteri in 2021 started with the need to get myself a car with which to move safely to competitions. Wetteri is one of the largest car dealers in Finland, and the company has several car brands and extensive maintenance services. Partnership has now lasted over two years and Wetteri has offered me the possibility of easy and safe transport when I get to travel with the car they supported. Reliability and low operating costs are important to me with more than 40,000 annual driving kilometers.
My cooperation with Pohjois-Karjalan Sähkö started in 2021. PKS has moved into the era of responsible electricity use where customer choices play a decisive role. Using renewable energy, own electricity production, flexibility of consumption, electricity storage, electrification of transport - all of these are already available to choose from. For me electricity has always been the synonym for Pohjois-Karjalan Sähkö. Especially now I notice the ease and benefit of electricity when I can charge my hybrid car.
Cooperation with OmaSp bank began in 2022. OmaSp is the fastest growing bank in the Nordic countries, offering the best banking service in the Joensuu area in all financial matters. In Finland OmaSp serves more than 200,000 personal and business customers in 45 branches with around 500 experts. The start of the cooperation was natural from the need to open a housing savings account for myself. OmaSp was superior choice in service speed and customer service so I can warmly recommend OmaSp to everyone.
Cooperation with Iivari Mononen Oy began in the spring of 2024. The company manufactures durable wooden posts, strong infra timber needed for construction, and fence posts. Cozy and safe yard structures are made from the company's sustainable wood. Iivari Mononen Group is a domestic, family-owned group, which includes Scanpole - pole and fence post business and PrimaTimber - construction timber business. The company operates in four countries and has exported to 62 countries over the years.
I have partnered with Hartwall since 2021 and Hartwall is literally a refreshing partner. Starting the collaboration was easy as products were familiar and the taste of the drinks is superior. The most suitable product from the selection for me is Gatorade sports drink which is the best-selling and most popular sports drink in the world. It hydrates, refuels and restores better than any other sports drink.
I am proud of my cooperation with LähiTapiola East. Locality has always been important to me and LähiTapiola East shares the same values. Cosmic is our family company so it is more than natural to cooperate with it. More than 100,000 customers visit Cosmic every year and it offers activities for children, young people, adults and senior citizens alike. In addition to 14 bowling alleys you will find four billiard tables and a snooker table. There are five darts throwing places and a cozy meeting and sauna facilities on the upper floor. It's hard to find a better place for corporate events and occasions. Cosmic also serves as my training place so you can always find me there if I'm not on a competition trip elsewhere.
